And if you are a birdwatching enthusiast, you can enjoy a nice relaxing trail along the countryside, watching the behaviours of different bird species that call Lord Howe Island their home.

Out of the abundant places you can visit on this breathtaking island off the coast of New South Wales, Australia, here are some of my favourites from when I was on Lord Howe Island.
Ball’s Pyramid is the tallest sea stack in the world. It was formed by volcanic activity a few million years ago. Now, it is a famous fishing site for locals and fishing enthusiasts from around the world.

Mount Gower is the highest mountain peak on the whole island. It was mind-blowing to go through the lush green forest and reach the mountain to see the island and the environment below. I went early in the morning to catch the sunrise, and it was one of the best moments in my whole travelling journey.

Kim’s Lookout is situated in the Northern part of the island. It offers a nice panoramic view of the island and the ocean beyond it. This is a special lookout place in Malabar Hills, so you can even enjoy a hiking trip while going to Kim’s Lookout.

The Lagoon of Lord Howe Island offers the best opportunities for open-water swimming, snorkeling and kayaking. If you like to dip into cool ocean water, the calm waters of the Lord Howe Island lagoon offer perfect opportunities.

When planning your stay on Lord Howe Island, you will be spoilt for options. Many apartments have different views, from garden views to sunset views. These are perfect for couples, honeymooners, or budget travellers.
Most of these apartments are one- or two-bedroom apartments with luxury amenities and self-catering options. Even when I stayed at Lord Howe Island, I chose a one-bedroom apartment so that I could enjoy the island itinerary to the fullest.

If you have some cash to send, you can choose high-end options like Luxury boutiques on Lord Howe Island. These have luxurious amenities, and some of these boutiques even offer pickups and drop-offs to Lord Howe Island airport.
These should be at the top of your list of things to ask when you visit Lord Howe Island.

One of the significant things you should know before visiting Lord Howe Island is that there is a limit to the number of tourists allowed on the island at a time. The limit is set at 400 tourists. So, during the planning process and thinking about when to visit Lord Howe Island, consider this fact so that you can plan your itinerary perfectly.

Although fishing is allowed on the island, illegal methods like spearfishing are not. Jet ski riding is also prohibited around Lord Howe Island to conserve the pristine condition of the waters.
There is limited cell phone connectivity to most parts of the Island. Most of the places you visit are in the wilderness, so you might have to postpone the Instagram live sessions during the trip to Lord Howe Island. That said, all the apartments and boutiques offer free WiFi options within them.

To truly enjoy your time, I suggest you spend at least a week in Lord Howe Island. There are ample activities for you to engage in, so you will not feel bored at any minute.
